Deborah Ryan had been around horses and dogs from a very early age while growing up in a small village in Staffordshire in the United Kingdom. After being a veterinary nurse for four years she became an English Qualified Professional Stylist in 1990, owning her first grooming salon at the age of 19. In 1998 she was sponsored to teach and groom in Australia and continued to own grooming salons and teach in Australia.

Deborah is now the Grooming Director of Dog Grooming International and Dog Grooming Australia. She has a City and Guilds Licentiateship Diploma in Dog Grooming from the London Institute (LCGI).

Deb is a pet stylist with the passion to help herself and others gain their dreams. She has developed Australian Nationally Recognised Grooming and Styling courses helping Agri-Food Industry Skill Council (AFISC) Australia to develop the Grooming/Stylist Training package. Deb is a qualified workplace trainer and assessor and has been teaching grooming for more than 14 years. She is the author of DGI Grooming Training Manuals to help new and experienced groomers plus tutors for grooming schools and stylists wanting to train their staff. For these achievements she was awarded the PIAA 'Kevin Pakes Perpetual Achievement Award' in 2008 and the Outstanding Innovation Award in 2009.

Deb has successfully competed in Australia and the USA. She started competing in grooming competitions in 2007. The following three years 2008, 2009 and 2010 she was awarded 'Overall winner/Best in Show' for her hand strip terriers in Australia PIAA Annual Grooming Comps. At Groom and Kennel Expo Pasadena USA she was awarded level 2 Best in Show in 2010 with a hand strip of the wire haired fox terrier and again in 2011 Best In Show with a standard poodle. To Date Debs best award was  at 2012 Kennel Expo Pasadena USA were she was awarded level 3 Expert level Best in Show 2012 with a Wire Haired Fox Terrier proudly excepting the John Nash Orchid and had the privilege of being on the front Cover of Groomer to Groomer. In 2012 Deb fulfilled her final dream by qualifying to represent Australia and join an Purina Groom Team  Australia  in Barelona, Spain 2013 where the team achieved 5th Place at the World Team Grooming Championship, also competing in the individuals Deb finished her competition grooming career with win in the world championship comp.

With her great sucsess in Grooming Competitions , in such a short period of 5 years Deb decided to retire from competing to continue to help groomers and Judge in the grooming comp ring.

In 2010 Deb was awarded the Cardinal Crystal Award in New York USA for International Groomer of the Year.

Deb is a mum of two boys who enjoys spending time with her family and showing Wire Haired Terriers and Lakeland Terriers.
